Case Study: Davis Cookie Haus Site and Hosting

Davis Cookie Haus

We were hired by Davis Cookie Haus owner Bree Davis to get her gourmet cookie company up and running. In addition to designing and printing some packaging stickers and business cards for her, we also set up her domain and designed a clean, simple website to go with it.

You can take a look at the results below.

DCH is in what we would call a phase 1 build – a clean, aesthetically pleasing, one-page website. The focus for a phase 1 is to get your brand out there as simply and directly as possible. A common mistake people run into is trying to make a site that does too much all at once. This is a problem for several reasons. First, it takes longer to get off the ground, and secondly, quality suffers as a result.

So unless you are looking to unroll an entire e-commerce store, or something that really necessitates an expansive site, we typically recommend starting small, and building organically in subsequent phases from there.

Currently, visitors to DCH can get relevant information about the new company, develop a general impression of the brand, view the current menu, and ultimately contact DCH through the various means included.

Over time and as DCHs grows, we might encourage phasing out of the initial build into something with more engaging content, and more potential to maximize SEO across the site to draw in a bigger audience and customer base.

Changes we might recommend for someone like Bree, if they’re ready to scale their business, or further develop the brand online, would be to consider things like regular blog posts or adding in a social media feed to include cooking videos, custom recipes, etc.

Offering a free recipe to build subscribers to a newsletter is another great way to increase audience capture. Compiling free recipes to give away over time might make publishing a recipe book a great next step to open up a potential digital revenue stream as well. I don’t know if you’ve looked lately, but most online recipe sites have become atrocious with ads, so having a clean, trusted source for good recipes would be a nice draw.

And when shipping logistics are sufficiently established to enable full online ordering, then incorporating an e-commerce side to the site will be huge.

Overall we’re really happy with how phase 1 went with DCH and we can’t wait to see where she takes her business from here.
